Most Hundreds in IPL – First & Foremost
With six centuries, Chris Gayle scored the most hundreds in IPL history. The T20 legend struck his maiden century in the 2011 edition. An unbeaten 102 off just 55 balls from Gayle helped Royal Challengers Bangalore chase down 172 with nine balls remaining. Two weeks later, he brought up his second 100.
Gayle struck a third hundred the following season. At Feroz Shah Kotla, now Arun Jaitley Stadium, he made 128 courtesy of 13 sixes and seven fours. The West Indian and Virat Kohli stitched together a 204-run partnership for the second wicket.
The left-handed batter’s fourth Indian Premier League hundred is one of the most remarkable innings in T20 cricket. A stunning 175*, which included 17 sixes and 13 fours, against Pune Warriors is the highest individual score in a T20 match. Royal Challengers Bangalore’s total of 263/5 is the highest-ever team score in an IPL match.
‘The Universe’ boss has added two more hundreds – 117 & 104* – to his IPL career. He has also missed out on a hundred by a run twice.

Most IPL hundreds – Kohli & Buttler
Former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli and Rajasthan Royals opener Jos Buttler scored five hundreds each. All five hundreds of both players have come for a single franchise.
Kohli has hit four centuries in the 2016 season. Two of them – 100* and 109 – have come against Gujarat Lions. Three of his five tons came at Chinnaswamy Stadium. The fifth hundred came in the 2019 season.
Like Kohli, the Englishman made four centuries in a single IPL season. In 2022, Buttler registered hundreds against Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals, and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The wicketkeeper-batter scored his maiden ton against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2021 season.
Brendon McCullum’s 158*
Among all the hundreds, Brendon McCullum’s 158* on the opening day of the IPL is one of the greatest knocks in T20 cricket. McCullum started in familiar fashion and went into full attack mode after scoring his fifty. He is the first player to bring up a 150-plus score in T20 cricket. Also, McCullum’s IPL record stood for more than five years.
Top 100s – Warner, Rahul, and Watson
David Warner, Shane Watson, and Lucknow Super Giants captain K L Rahul have scored four centuries each. Two explosive batters, AB de Villiers and Sanju Samson, have struck three centuries each. Meanwhile, nine players, which includes Adam Gilchrist, Virender Sehwag, Shikhar Dhawan, Quinton de Kock, etc., have scored two IPL centuries.
Manish Pandey is the first Indian cricketer to score a hundred in IPL. He made 114* against Deccan Chargers in Centurion. At 19, he was also the youngest to hit a ton in the world’s best T20 league.
Former Mumbai Indians skipper Sachin Tendulkar, too, has made a hundred in the IPL. He scored a 66-ball hundred against Kochi Tuskers at Wankhede.
IPL Fastest 100
The player with six hundreds has scored the fastest century in the IPL. Against Pune Warriors, Gayle took only 30 balls to reach the three-figure mark. He went on to hit 175 runs in the match. Yusuf Pathan, second in the table, has made a century in 37 balls against Mumbai Indians Players. South Africa’s David Miller, who holds the record for the quickest ton in T20I cricket, is third on the list after scoring a hundred in 38 balls against then-Kings XI Punjab colors.
